We always love a weekend trip to the Farmer’s Market and lucky for us, there are plenty of them around. While some debate the validity of the farmer’s market vs. the neighborhood grocer, we contend that there is simply no discussion at all – there is nothing better than fresh ingredients and produce from the farmer’s market (not to mention the good karma you receive by supporting local farmers). Considering today is Earth Day, we thought it was fitting to share a few of our farmer’s market favorites:
1. The Chic Shopper – Made from 100% natural golden jute fiber harvested in Bangladesh, the Apolis Market Bag is the perfect accessory for the farmer’s market. http://store.apolisgobal.com/
2. The Olive Experience - Stonehouse Olive Oil makes the most incredible citrus olive oils by crushing fruit along with olives to deliver flavors as unique as Blood Orange, Lisbon Lemon, and Persian Lime. The small shop encourages its patrons to try everything which is why we never seem to leave without a bottle or two. http://www.stonehouseoliveoil.com/
3. The One & Only Baguette- Acme Bread Company makes some of the best baguettes in the Bay Area using specialty selected grain varieties that give it the perfect fresh and flakey taste. www.acmebread.com/
4. The Heirloom – Caprese is one of our favorite salads (it's also one of the easiest to make) so we are always on hunt for the best heirloom tomatoes. Since great heirlooms can sometimes be hard to identify, we recommend buying the largest, most colorful ones you can find (not only are they generally the tastiest but they also make a for a pretty presentation).
5. The Big Cheese – We love cheese (in case you didn’t already know) and Cow Girl Creamery makes some the best artisan cheeses around using only locally sourced and organic ingredients. www.cowgirlcreamery.com
