We spent an Easter holiday in Lake Como several years ago so it is fitting that it is on our mind today. The chic resort town is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and is the setting for some of the best spas, luxury hotels and shopping in Italy. If you go, there are plenty of things to choose from to do: Visit Villa Carlotta at Tremezzo, with its 40 acre park (the villa was given to Princess Carlotta as a wedding present by her mother, Princess Marianne of Prussia); shop for the best Italian silk (over 80% of all of Europe’s silk comes from Lake Como); dine at a restaurant in Bellagio (one of our favorite places in the area); or stay at the stunning Villa D'Este (voted #1 best hotel in the world in 2009). But no matter what you do, be sure and do some celebrity stalking...if you're lucky you'll be able to catch a rare glimpse of George Clooney.
